SOFTEN
Even if it’s just for tonight
I’ll uncurl my toes and unfurl my nose from any worry.
Even if it’s just for tonight
I’ll untie the knots of insecurity that tighten me.
Even if it’s just for tonight
I’ll let my words drip like sweet honey.
Even if it’s just for tonight
I’ll befriend with curiosity my fears and vulnerability.
Even if it’s just for tonight
I’ll remember that my process is my poetry
I’ll remember that my beauty is my becoming
I’ll remember that my work is love.
